New Fabric Platform and Data Architecture Support Global Expansion for Konges Sløjd

With Microsoft Fabric and a scalable architecture, Konges Sløjd is now ready for its next phase of growth. Inspari has served as a strategic advisor on Microsoft Fabric, data architecture, and the development of a professional data setup that delivers the right insights and supports growth.
Konges Sløjd was founded in a basement in Copenhagen in 2014. Since then, the company has grown into a global success, selling high-end children's clothing and toys in over 60 countries and has been acquired by the British private equity firm 3i.
Since 2019, Konges Sløjd has grown from 8 to approximately 100 employees. The rapid growth in revenue, staff numbers, and complexity revealed the need to modernize IT architecture and build a future-proof, scalable data platform that could support all potential growth scenarios. And that’s exactly what has been achieved.
With Microsoft Fabric, we now have a platform that can grow with us as we expand into new markets, pull data from multiple systems, and generally meet the increasing analysis needs of the business. There is no expiration date or limitations on what we have built. It’s scalable, stable, and methodologically sound.
International Expansion Challenged IT Architecture and Data
Konges Sløjd faced key challenges that made it necessary to take a strategic look at their IT infrastructure and data platform. With the previous ERP and BI setup, they lacked good insight into sales analysis and other relevant data.
In summary:
- Growing Data Volumes: Konges Sløjd needed a platform that could integrate data from various systems, scale as needed, and provide the foundation for informed decision-making.
- Legacy Systems: The company had outgrown its existing IT platform, which couldn’t support future ambitions or deliver the desired insights.
- International Expansion: Konges Sløjd needed a data solution that could quickly incorporate new markets, additional subsidiaries, new data sources, and thus support their future growth strategy.
It’s extremely important to make the right choices from the start. Inspari is very experienced, and we needed their advice to assess whether both we and Microsoft Fabric were ready for each other. Or if an Azure cloud data warehouse would be a better fit.
Developing the Business on an Informed Foundation
Konges Sløjd engaged Inspari as advisors and sparring partners to design a scalable data architecture that would, in the short term, provide the right insights into sales, procurement, logistics, finance, and more.
In the longer term, it was an investment in collecting and structuring all business data so that business development with more AI, data science, etc., would be easier—and the data strategy would be long-term.
Focus of the work:
- Architecture Advisory and Consulting: Inspari provided advisory on data architecture, system maturity, and helped define a long-term data strategy capable of handling the growing volume of data from multiple systems—both current and future.
- Co-Build Approach to Microsoft Fabric: In close collaboration with Konges Sløjd’s own developers, the data platform was built on Microsoft Fabric. This co-build process combined Inspari’s expertise with Konges Sløjd’s own specialists to ensure technical knowledge and ownership within Konges Sløjd. Phase 1 of the Fabric project involved implementing data from Dynamics 365 Business Central ERP and Dynamics 365 Sales CRM.
- Tailored Delivery Model: Inspari managed to adapt their delivery model to fit Konges Sløjd’s specific needs and complement their own skills, which was crucial for the success of the project.
It was important for us to have a partner with deep experience who truly understood our needs. Inspari provided both expertise and flexibility, which made the project a success and sets us up for a strong future.
Ready for Whatever the Future Brings
With Microsoft Fabric and a scalable data architecture, Konges Sløjd is now ready for its next growth phase. Microsoft Fabric accelerates "time-to-insight" through AI and makes data easy to use across the organization.
The investment from private equity firm 3i will help expand the brand into new markets, and with the new data platform, the company can handle increasing complexity and data volumes as it continues its international expansion.
The implementation of Microsoft Fabric has provided Konges Sløjd with several significant benefits:
- Efficient Data Integration: The new data platform enables the integration of data from various systems and sources, improving the company’s ability to deliver reports and analyses in real time.
- Scalability: The solution is designed to grow with the company, allowing Konges Sløjd to expand into new markets without worrying about IT infrastructure.
- Long-Term Stability: The platform is built to be sustainable and methodologically correct, giving Konges Sløjd a solid foundation for future growth.
